Westscott Theater April 24, 2024. Live Dead and Brothers delivered a dynamic 3 hr plus show consisting of intertwined Grateful Dead and Allman Brothers tunes. Who better qualified to do that than band members that are directly or as closely related to the original bands as you can get!

Members of this seasoned and extremely talented group of musicians include Mark Karan, guitarist and vocals, lead guitarist for 13 yrs with Bob Weir's RATDOG - a few other project bands (Jemimah Puddleduck and Mark Karan's Buds) , Tom Constanten - known keyboardist and one of the original members of the Grateful Dead (1968-1970) , known drummer Pete Lavezzoli, percussionist vocalist and author, Berry Duane Oakley, bassist and vocals, son of The Allman Brothers Band’s founding bass player Berry Oakley, American guitarist and singer-songwriter Les Dudek (Steve Miller Band, Boz Scaggs, The Allman Brothers Band, Dave Mason, Stevie Nicks, others) , and Scott Guberman, keyboardist best known for his work with founding Grateful Dead bassist, Phil Lesh.

The band started around 8PM and played for over 3 hrs with a 20-minute break. After they got warmed up and their blood was flowing, they put on a wonderful blend of some of the best of The Dead and Allman Brothers. Mark and Les swapped leads, rhythm and slides throughout the night, while keyboard players Tom and Scott sitting on opposite sides of the stage , added depth, texture and melody to every song. Pete (sweet short drum solo Hot Lanta) and Berry Duane kept the driving structure, depth and beats to perfection. The vocals were great too. There were times if you closed your eyes, you were listening to pure magic. It was like being there, years ago, at a Dead or Allman brothers concert, something I had the opportunity to do many times growing up in the Northeast a few moons ago.

The crowd really enjoyed this show, it was special. Thank you for providing a killer show. Do not miss this band if you have the opportunity!
